    You need to address this to the Australian Coastal Maritime authority. A U.S. or for that matter other nations can issue you a captains license, but if your chartering from Australia you’d be required to meet their requirements, and frankly it’s a lot better to get a license from them.

    Better ask the local equivalent of the Department of Natural Resources. I’d imagine you have to have had a lot of experience and/or navigation and safety courses, too.

    You should contact http://www.transport.sa.gov.au

    In the US that would make you a commercial operator and you would need either a OUPV or a Master with sailing endorsement license. I would believe that Australia would require something similar .
