Boating and Sailing
Regwah: I completely agree. I'd hate to see her lose the chance to live her dream when it means so very much to her ... and yes she has been planning and preparing for so long, and with highly competent mentors. I just hope she will come home safely! Oh and bless you for the work you do ... you bring joy to the hearts of some very precious souls.

No,I think it will end in disaster.I think she’s too young & inexperienced
Bloody oath she should, Go Jessica.
Ok Aussie above me makes a valid point.
I’m from the Sunshine Coast, I volunteer with Sailability, we take intellectually or physically disabled people sailing from the Mooloolaba Marina, I have seen Jessica preparing for a long time now, she just looks like she can do it, I feel so proud of her.
What else are some things young girls are doing in the area, fighting in the street in gangs last week on the news.
My unit was robbed by a girl Jessica’s age a few months ago.
I think we are all wrapped in cotton wool too much these days.
A bit of real danger is a good thing I reckon.
that decision should be between her and her parents. if they’re ok with it, I say let the government butt out.
We live in a country where people are free to make mistakes if they choose …I feel very strongly that this young lady is making a big one but it is hers & her parents choice.
I just hope that if things do go wrong that she doesn’t come to serious harm or profit from any taxpayer funded rescue through deals with TV stations…
Yes, so if an accident happens that would deter any would be young adventurers from making retarded choices in life
No, she’s a kid. You don’t have the experience to sail around the world at that age, no matter how trained you are. Good luck to her but i think her parents are stupid to let her to do it.
Absofreakinglutely she should! She has the training, the coaches/mentors, the preparation, and most importantly, the support of her parents.
No matter how "retarded" some people might think her dream is, it is HER dream. Why a Government bureaucrat can step in and tell her what she can and can’t do is far well and above my level of comprehension and level of tolerance.
Add to that, all of these people automatically assume that it’s going to end in disaster and death and folly and whatnot makes me think that they are also afraid of chasing their own dreams.
I’m not saying, I’m just…Well yeah, I am saying.
I think she should do it, to Hell with everyone else.
I don’t agree with most people above:I think it’s crazy, this record race that’s going on. There’s this 15 y/o Dutch girl with the same plans, who was held back by child protection. Much to the disappointment of her pushy Daddy. What is next? 14 or 13 year olds? I think it’s outrageous to allow your child to do something like that.
Why does it have to go terribly wrong one time before people will maybe become sensible again? I’m fine with it once these kids are 18, but this is crazy.
