My First Boat
I am interested in getting a boat and having it near the Ft. Myers area. I would like this boat to be able to make it to Key West and be able to handle some seas. It doesn’t have to be super fast just economical. I guess I am wondering what type of boat should I get such as a trauller or a sport fisherman and how many feet is the best. Should it be gas or a diesel. Please keep in mind that this is a first boat it doesn’t have to be in absolute pristine condition. I am pretty handy and can upgrade interior, electronics, and powerplant. I am what you like to call a “weekend warrior” in fact I prefer it. I am looking to spend around 20,000 to 40,000 maybe more it depends. So an older boat is probably what I am looking for but it has to have a good hull. If anyone knows anything that would help me out I would appreciate it.

Brunswick announces start of 200 and 300 hp Verado Mercury Marine engine production
Mercury Marine has begun production on two new models, a in-line four ylinder 200 hp and an in-line six cylinder 300 hp, o its fuel-efficient, powerful and revolutionary Verado outboard line. The engines were introduced at the 2007 Miami International Boat Show, n February, and production began in June. The four-cylinder 200 hp Verado is the lightest 200 hp four-stroke outboard in the world. A perfect combination of weight and power makes this outboard spectacular for targeted applications, including freshwater aluminum boats, saltwater coastal bay and flats boats, and dual-engine offshore boats.

Ranger introduces new Z520 Comanche tournament bass boat
Over its 40-year history, Ranger Boats is well known for building the most popular bass tournament boats on the water and nearly everyone has their favorite. For some anglers, it doesn’t get any better than a Z boat; others swear by a VX. So instead of letting the argument linger, we’ve cross-pollinated the two to come up with a high performance design destined to turn heads on and off the water.
