Yea, wait until you get your first service invoice! The salesman will tell you 3 years no service. After that 3 years, the service cost you about $1,500. Keep that E-TEC shit!!!!

Love the piece, especially tho 2 lads having a coffee break. Priceless. In regard to the cost of the servicing, the clinical defination of a boat is a hole in the water that you continueally pour money into. Thanks for posting

e-tec’s the best outboard there is. And it only costs 300 dollars to have it serviced.

Well I should be clear that I clean the carbs before it goes in the water for the season.

So cleaning carbs once a season seems like reasonable maintence

you got your good and bad with both two and four strokes the two stroke has more power but its not as reliable but the four stroke is reliable as an pack mule but it dont have near the power

90hp 2 stroke versus a 90hp 4stroke has the same amount of power.

The other engine for my boat at the time was an 88hp johnson which my friend has on his boat. My top end is higher, only thing is with his is it revs alittle faster.

There is a reason why Coast Guard outboards are honda’s

if thats the case how come my buddys 75 hp two stroke out ran a 95hp fours stroke and how come a 125cc two stroke bike will out run a 250cc four stroke bike

different hull shapes? The comparison I did was between to Boston Whalers Montauks. Maybe my prop was more solid

My boat has more torque though no trouble pulling up 2 waterskiier where my buddy’s two stroke struggles.

The reving faster of the 2 stroke helps in acceleration but not top speed

but the 2 stroke will beat out the fourstroke in a race

your right it does have alot to do with the hull shape and prop that changes the boats speed and acceleration

I went with the happy medium and got myself an evinrude 3 stroke.

they still produce the same amount of power… otherwise they wouldnt be rated the same…hp from the factory… a two stroke pollutes more… a two strokes reliability is based on its components… usually have a smaller piston running at higher rpm to produce the same amount of power which causes alot of friction which is reduce by the oil… if the oil mix is wrong or the oiling components arent working properly the engines performance drops… hence weak reliability… result: siezed engine

there are many variables there that are unacounted for… different hull shape different displacement, different weight, different drag elements, different props. as for the bikes… riders weigh, different driving style, shifting points, different gearing. also two strokes are quick to rev to top rpms and stay there where as a four stroke is more sluggish to get to top rpm simply because of the design of the engine…
